Vico Redefining

A Philippine election is never complete without its fanfare—marches, stage performances featuring popular movie stars, mascots of all kinds, and candidates dancing or clowning around to the latest beat, stamping the whole experience as a freak show. It is indeed true , our election is a circus.
In Pasig, however, a shift is shaping up. Vico Sotto is redefining electoral campaigning by turning it into true people's platform, face-to-face engagement with the constituency. Instead of relying on big rallies and colorful spectacle, he brings the discussion to the kalye and eskinita—the alleys and small streets where the daily struggles of ordinary citizens unfold. The approach moves away from political gimmickry focusing instead on direct dialogue and practical solutions to real community issues.
If he wished, given his lineage in the entertainment industry, the mayor could have staged a campaign filled with celebrity endorsements, musical performances, and dazzling theatrics. Yet, he chose a different path. He prefers to face the people directly, listening to their grievances without pretense or pomp. His campaign does not offer a fleeting escape into dreamland, nor does it serve as an opiate to make people forget their hardships. Instead, it presents a challenge—one that is direct, pressing, and unavoidable.
Now and then occasional shouts and scattered cheers are heard, but the focus remains on the young man before them. For years, he has captured the people’s imagination, proving that change is possible, that their lives can improve. These small streets and alleys, seemingly insignificant, transform into capillaries—tiny blood vessels that connect to a larger network, carrying the lifeblood of new aspirations and ideals throughout the nation.
Perhaps we can indeed change our deeply flawed system that afflicts our country. The young leader standing before us today offers a glimpse of an exit, a way forward. It may not yet be a highway, but it is, at the very least, a pathway.
Lets go!
